Commercial Kitchen Equipment Service
When a restaurant's fryer, oven or cold room fails, every hour costs the customer money. How kitchen equipment service companies can respond fast, plan maintenance around service hours and keep equipment records.
Commercial kitchens depend on equipment that cannot be allowed to fail at 7pm on a Friday: combi ovens, fryers, dishwashers, ice machines, cold rooms and extraction. When something does fail, the restaurant loses covers, and the whole evening depends on how fast your technician gets there.
Respond by impact
Agree priorities with each customer:
- Critical: cold room or freezer failure (stock at risk), gas safety issues, or the main cooking line down.
- High: an important appliance down during service.
- Normal: a secondary appliance, a leak, a noise.
- Low: servicing and quotes.
Send critical calls straight away to the nearest technician with the right skills.
Work around service hours
A restaurant cannot have a technician in the kitchen during lunch service. Record each site's access windows and restrictions in its access notes: the deliveries entrance, who to ask for, hours to avoid. Plan maintenance for early morning or the afternoon gap.
Know the equipment
Keep a list of the equipment you service in every kitchen, with make, model, serial, install date and warranty. Chains often have the same models in every branch, so a fault in one branch tells you what to expect in the others.
Technicians should see a unit's history before they set off. Many kitchen equipment faults repeat: the same seal, the same thermostat, the same drain.
Planned maintenance
Regular servicing prevents most breakdowns. That means descaling combi ovens and dishwashers, cleaning ice machines, and checking door seals and refrigeration. Schedule it per site (per branch, for chains) so every visit happens without anyone having to remember it.
Parts on the van
Stock the van for the usual failures: seals, elements, thermostats, probes and solenoid valves. Record what each job uses so the van is restocked accurately.
Food safety records
For their own food safety inspections, many restaurants need proof that refrigeration was serviced and repaired promptly. Give them visit records with photos and sign-off.
In Movtro
In Movtro, each job has a priority from low to critical, and dispatch suggests a technician based on skills, workload, availability and travel time from their live location. Each restaurant is a customer whose sites carry access notes, and each appliance is an asset with make, model, serial, warranty and job history. Recurring jobs schedule servicing per site and flag overdue visits. Technicians work through checklists, record parts used from van stock, add photos and take a signature, even without signal. Customers can follow progress and see the record in the portal.
