How to See Your Team on the Live Map

See where clocked-in staff are right now, what active and stale positions mean, and why someone might be missing from the map.

The live map shows where your clocked-in staff are right now. You can send the nearest person to an urgent job, or answer "where is the technician?" without picking up the phone.

Managers, supervisors and dispatchers can use it.

Open the map

Go to Team → Locations. The map refreshes every minute.

Under the map is a list of your team. Click a name to zoom to that person on the map. Anyone who can't be shown is listed as Not clocked in or Sharing off.

Active and stale

Everyone on the map has a coloured dot:

  • Active (green): their position was updated in the last 10 minutes.
  • Stale (amber): their last known position is more than 10 minutes old, or they've clocked out.

A stale dot shows where the person was, which may not be where they are now. Phones stop sending in poor signal or when location is switched off, and the browser and home-screen versions also stop when Movtro isn't open.

See someone's route

For people using the Android app, Movtro records their route during their shift. Tap Route next to a name in the list to draw that day's route on the map, and choose another day to look back. Routes are kept for 90 days. People using Movtro in a browser or from the home screen only share their latest position, so they don't have a route. If the app hasn't sent a position for more than 15 minutes during someone's shift, that person is marked Tracking interrupted. Usually the phone is off or out of signal, or location has been switched off.

Why someone isn't on the map

Location is only shared while someone is clocked in, and only if your company's setting allows it. Check these in order:

  1. Are they clocked in? Nobody appears on the map after clocking out.
  2. Is live location on? Under Administration → Settings → Attendance, Live location for dispatch has to be Required or Each person decides. If it's Each person decides, that person must have switched it on.
  3. Has their phone sent a position yet? A position appears once someone clocks in with sharing on and the phone finds a location.

What the map is not

  • It doesn't record a route outside a shift. The app starts at clock-in and stops at clock-out.
  • It never shows anyone outside working time.
  • It doesn't detect arrival at a site. Arrival is recorded on the job: when a technician starts the work, Movtro records where they were and how far that was from the site. See how technicians check in on site.

Customers see it too, briefly

While a job is travelling, customers with portal access can see their technician's location for that job only, until the technician arrives.
